The Foundational Steps
1. Build a Prayer Support Team
Prayer is foundation to the strategy of Youth Alive. Get adults and students in your church to commit to pray on a regular basis for the students and schools in your community. Prayer Zone Partners is a great way to challenge adults to pray. Visit the PZP Web site for ideas and suggestions on implementing the Prayer Zone Partners ministry in your church.
2. Build a Student Ministry Team
Your students have to visit the campus on a daily basis. They are in a position to impact the campus like no one else in the church. Empowering students to become campus missionaries helps enable them to accept personal responsibility to reach the lost of their generation. Campus missionaries are the key to ministry on the public schools of America. Conduct a special service in which you challenge students to commit to be missionaries to their school. See the Campus Missions page for ideas and resources that will help build strong campus missionaries in the church.
The Building Steps
1. Establish a ministry presence on campus.
This is best facilitated by campus clubs. Check to see if there is a strong Christian club on the campus you have targeted. If not, lay the groundwork to establish a club. If there is a strong Christian club already on campus, encourage your students to participate. If there is enough interest, you could also consider starting another Christian club even though one already exists. Campus clubs bring Christian students from different church backgrounds together with one primary mission: campus ministry. Check out Campus Clubs for ideas and resources that will guide you through the process of starting a club on campus.
2. Plan outreaches that target the campus.
Youth Alive sponsors an outreach called The Seven Project (TSP). TSP is a comprehensive outreach strategy that equips and trains leaders and students on effective evangelism and follow-up.
Youth Alive can impact a campus. It provides students with the means and support needed to reach their friendsand classmates with the gospel. Follow these basic steps to implement the Youth Alive Strategy.
